Angel & Josh

One of the hardest things to do as a wedding photographer is working with a couple for the first time and getting them comfortable in front of your camera. It's not an easy task, despite the fact that we live in an age where everyone has a cell phone and taking a selfie is practically an everyday requirement.

Still, there are days and assignments where it feels like pulling teeth to get people to relax and be themselves when they know someone is focused on them.

And then there are couples like Angel and Josh, a pair that was so comfortable in front of the camera during their August engagement session, I couldn't help but wonder if they modeled professionally.

Angel and Josh are set to get married next June and I'm already eagerly counting down the days until they say "I do."

Why? Because they're an incredibly fun couple who is down to earth, completely confident in who they are and, above all, have an insane amount of chemistry together that is simply undeniable.

As a photographer, that means they're practically dream clients.

Angel and Josh's engagement session took place on a beaming summer afternoon at one of my favorite locations: Roger Williams Park in Providence.

I've waxed poetic about this location more times than I can count but one of the things I love most about it is how much variety there is within a very short walking distance and Angel, Josh and I made sure to use all of it.

While we started in the parking lot of the carousel, as I do with many of my clients, I made sure to let Angel and Josh guide me to where they wanted to go and we truly turned this into a collaborative engagement shoot.

After visiting the Japanese Gardens and the Iron Footbridge, Angel and Josh had one last spot in mind and I was all for it: The Temple of Music.

I've always adored the way this part of the park looks and it was especially beautiful with these two as they were both wearing white for their shoot and the color theme played off perfectly with the poses we created.

What I loved the most about Angel and Josh is, despite our session running nearly two hours, by the end of it they were both super excited about how the photos were coming out and creating their own poses and ideas for shots as well.

To me, that's the surefire sign you've got an awesome couple on your hands and I can only imagine how much fun we'll have in about nine months when these two walk down the aisle.

So congratulations Angel and Josh on your engagement and I can't wait to help you document a wedding day I know you've both spent years dreaming about.

See you in 2020!
