Amanda & Thomas
Roger Williams Park, Providence, Rhode Island
June 24th, 2019
One of the nice things about being a wedding photographer is, usually you have a really long time to develop a relationship with your clients as you've most likely been booked to shoot their wedding a year or more in advance.
But this isn't always the case. Every once in a while, you take on a last-minute booking and, in my experience, these tend to be some of the most laidback clients you'll find. At least when they're like Amanda and Thomas.
I first met Amanda back in mid May and, at our initial consultation, I had to confirm the wedding date she told me was accurate as she was scheduled to get married in a little over two months.
Once we got to talking and I found out the wedding was, in fact, set for 2019, I knew I had to shoot it. And meeting her fiancé Thomas a few weeks later at their engagement session only confirmed that.
I might not know them for long before their wedding day but I know from our brief meetings that this is going to be one fun couple and one fun wedding.
Amanda and Thomas chose to have their engagement session taken at Roger Williams Park and though it was an incredibly hot and humid summer day, we managed to find a lot of nice, shady areas in which to work.
I really enjoyed getting to know this bride and groom and finding out what kind of poses they liked or didn't like and I could sense that the groom-to-be was getting more comfortable with me the longer we shot, which is never an easy task when you're meeting someone the day you're first photographing them.
Amanda and Thomas have a great chemistry together and it's evident by the way they held each other during our session. The pair plan to get married at a church in Cranston and will have a ton of time on their wedding day for formal photos so it's entirely possible we end up back at Roger Williams Park on their big day and I'm all for it.
Hopefully, though, the weather is a little cooler, especially for the bride and groom if they're all dressed up in formal attire. (Not to mention the photographer who will inevitably show up in a dress shirt, vest and tie!)
Amanda, Thomas and I spent a good amount of time exploring the park but, even after we called it a day because of the heat, I definitely felt like I could have worked with them for another hour or two.
If that's not a great compliment, I don't know what is.
The nice thing about working with this pair of soon-to-be newlyweds is I won't have to wait long to shoot one of the biggest days of their lives as it's literally less than a month away as I type this.
And, even though I had no idea it would be on my schedule a few weeks ago, I can confidently say this is one wedding I can't wait for.
So congratulations on the engagement Amanda and Thomas and I'll see you very, very soon. :)
