Roger Williams Park Engagement Photos
Victoria & Daniel
Roger Williams Park, Providence, Rhode Island

Of all the things I talk to prospective clients about prior to them officially booking me to photograph their wedding, I think the most important is also the most truthful. In order to get the best photos possible — not just from me but from ANY photographer — you have to like the personality of the person taking the pictures.
Because of this, I'm always aware my over-the-top silliness may not work for everybody but, when it does, it really, really does. Case in point: Victoria and Daniel.
While I had an inkling Victoria and Daniel were my kind of couple when I met them, it wasn't until five minutes into their engagement session at Roger William Park back in May that I knew they were the exact kind of couple I like best: The bride and groom who can laugh and joke while having their photos taken ... and the ones who might just give me a run for my money when it comes to their personalities.
And the final result? EASILY one of the best engagement sessions I've ever had, both in the amount of fun we had together and the photos themselves.
Victoria and Daniel chose Roger Williams Park for their engagement session and they weren't alone. On the day of their shoot, I arrived about 45 minutes early to scout locations ... and ran into NINE different groups of teenagers taking their prom photos throughout the park.
Which makes sense. Because of all the times I've been to this park, I don't think I've ever seen it this beautiful. Not only were we lucky enough to have some nice cloud cover on this spring afternoon but the park was fully in bloom and everywhere we went was simply stunning. And the couple themselves? Well, they certainly came ready to pose.
We started our session in the Rose Garden and Lover's Retreat bridge and while I don't typically visit this part of the park, I'm so glad I did on this particular day because it, and the couple, were fantastic.
I could have spent all day working with Victoria and Daniel in just the north-west corner of Roger Williams Park but I knew I'd be remiss if I didn't take them to one of my favorite areas, the Japanese Gardens.
We were originally going to start our session in this portion of the park but because of the aforementioned prom groups, we needed to pivot and I'm so glad we did because when we finally DID arrive at the Japanese Gardens, the lighting was picture perfect and led to some of my favorite photos of the day.
No visit to Roger Williams Park is complete without stopping by the Iron Footbridge, however, and while this pair had me cracking up with wildly inappropriate jokes during this entire portion of their engagement session, I was impressed by how much they pulled it together when it was time for photos as these were easily the best shots of the entire day and even led to the photo they used for their save the date.
As the sun slowly began to set and our time came to an end, I had one last location in mind for Victoria and Daniel: The Temple to Music. It was the perfect place to cap a super fun session and see how relaxed they were for the last few poses and shots.
All in all, I don't think I could have asked for a better engagement session than Victoria and Daniel's. These two are a blast to work with and I can already tell that their September wedding is going to be a definitely highlight in my calendar this year.
So thanks so much for such a memorable day Victoria and Daniel. I can't wait to get together in the fall and see if we can match, or even exceed, the laughs and great shots we got at Roger Williams Park. I know we have our work cut out for us but I have no doubt you two will find a way to be even better when you become husband and wife. See you in a few months!
