Meg & Tim

Before the start of every engagement session I shoot, I always let my clients know the first 15 minutes are going to be awkward because, chances are, they've never done a professional photo shoot before and it takes about 15 minutes for me to get a read on who they are and their energy before finding poses that work best for them.

But, sometimes, the awkwardness can last way more than 15 minutes and, in my experience, these are always the most fun photo shoots. Case in point: Meg and Tim's May engagement session at Goddard Park in East Greenwich.

I could tell seconds into Meg and Tim's engagement session that these two adorable future newlyweds would be a ton of fun to work with ... but that we'd have our hands full keeping them on track during the shoot. And, honestly, I would have preferred it no other way because engagement shoots are SUPPOSED to be full of laughs and joking around. And these? They were made for this.

My time with Meg and Tim started in the carousel area of Goddard Park. For years now, this has been where I like to begin engagement sessions as we can do some test shots before really exploring the park and, right away, Meg and Tim brought their over-sized personalities out and made each other crack up.

Whether it was silly poses or promises not to sniff each other during the session, it was NOT EASY keeping this 2025 couple on task for their session but even with the fun times we were having, the love this future bride and groom have for one another was clear with each and every shot we took, especially as we made our way over to the park's iconic bridge.

One of the reasons I love going to Goddard Park for engagement sessions — besides the fact that it is apparently the perfect place to recreate the Titanic pose — is the park always looks different every single time I shoot there. On this beautiful spring afternoon, we had TONS of colors in the air. My favorite, though, were the purple flowers blooming right by the golf course.

Were we supposed to take photos here? Probably not. Did I let it stop me? Absolutely not.

I mean, can you blame me? Meg and Tim looked amazing here, especially with their much more colorful second outfits for the session.

One of the reasons I loved working with Meg and Tim is they were quite literally down for whatever poses I could throw their way and because they had nothing else going on this day, we had tons of time to walk around the area and see what inspired us.

Toward the end of the shoot alone, we hit three locations near the Equestrian Park. I love variety and this couple gave me all the looks and poses I could handle.

As the sun started to set at Goddard Park and my time with Meg and Tim came to an end, I knew there was one last location for us to visit and that was the boat launch area. Meg and Tim wanted to get a couple of shots with the water in the background and I knew from previous visits that this area would look great if we got a nice sunset that night.

Sure enough, we did and I can think of no better way to have wrapped up this session.

With the last of the usable light gone, it was time for Meg, Tim and I to go our separate ways and I knew right from that moment that I couldn't wait to work with them again.

If that's not the surest sign of a great engagement session, I don't know what is. Now, granted, their wedding is in January and it's highly unlikely we'll have as nice a day then as we did on this beautiful engagement session but a boy can dream.

Either way, if there's one thing I learned working with these two on this lovely May evening, it's that they're a ton of fun to hang around and see interact and that's one of the many reasons I love doing what I do. So thanks Meg and Tim for a super fun engagement session that I know is going to rank pretty high on my favorite shoots of 2024. I can't wait to do it all over again next year! See you then!
