Cher & Adam
Colt State Park in Bristol, Rhode Island
October 21st, 2018
It's rare as a wedding photographer that you go into an engagement shoot having never met the couple you're going to work with before, knowing you're unlikely to work with them again and having that totally be a good thing.
But that's exactly what happened to me as I made my way to Colt State Park on a beautiful but slightly chilly afternoon in the middle of October as I met Cher and Adam for their fall engagement session at one of my favorite places in Rhode Island.
Cher and Adam found me through Facebook and are getting married next year in Missouri. They asked me if I'd be kind enough to shoot their engagement session and, I'll be honest, knowing they would be working with someone else for their wedding meant there was absolutely no stress on us to go too crazy for this shoot.
And stress-free is the exact way I would describe this soon-to-be bride and groom.
Cher & Adam's engagement session was the third consecutive engagement session I had on this fall day but, thanks to their relaxed vibe and the beauty of Colt State Park, any worry I had that I'd be too tired to shoot another portrait session quickly went out the window the minute I saw these two jump out of Adam's giant truck.
Being a New England-based photographer, it's rare that I get a truly Southern couple but Cher and Adam showed up rocking the full cowboy look and I was immediately struck by their charm and polite vibe. It was so refreshing to get to know these two and hear all about their life together and their hopes for their wedding day.
One of the things I loved the most about these two was how willing they were to follow me along some of my favorite spots at Colt State Park and, I've got to say, Adam's cowboy hat and the boots they both wore blended perfectly with the fall foliage of the park and made for some great shots, especially when the two of them switched into some camo for themed photos Cher had in mind.
I didn't get too much time with Cher and Adam as the temperature started dropping rapidly but the timing of our shoot was absolutely perfect and we were rewarded with some beautiful light from a setting sun that made the last batch of photos we shot easily my favorite on the day.
All in all, I adored working with Cher and Adam and left Colt State Park a tiny bit jealous of the lucky photographer who gets to work with them on the day they say "I do."
So, congratulations Cher and Adam and best of luck next May. If your wedding is anything like your engagement photo session was, I know it's going to be a great day full of laughter, fun and tons of awesome photos.
