Samantha & Dale
Engagement session at Cat Hollow Park in Killingly, Connecticut
March 10th, 2017*
I've got to be honest. In the cold of winter, the last thing I want to do is go outside and take photographs but sometimes I just can't help myself. If there's one thing I've learned being a Rhode Islander my whole life, it's that snow and cold may be a pain to deal with but there are few things nature tosses your way that are more scenic or beautiful ... if you can deal with the frostbite.
You can imagine my joy, then, when Samantha and Dale, whose wedding I'll be photographing in October, asked me to shoot their engagement photos four hours after a snowstorm rolled through our state and left a fresh coat of the white stuff on the ground.
While I was initially hesitant, I had a great feeling about this day and that feeling paid off in a big way.
After starting our session in their literal backyard in Foster, Rhode Island, I deferred to the couple's knowledge of the local area and trusted them when they said there was a "cool waterfall in this park down the road.:"
That waterfall was located at Cat Hollow Park in Killingly, Connecticut and it lived up to the hype. Coupled with a beautiful appearance by the sun, Samantha and Dale had an engagement session to remember in an absolutely breathtaking location and I can promise you one thing: I just got about ten thousand times more excited about their wedding this fall. Is it October yet?
